TAD Master Showcase 2016

Autonomous Cars for Inner and Inter City

During the seventh edition of the TAD Master, the project topic assigned by Volkswagen Group Design has been “Autonomous Driving Cars for Inner & Inter City” focusing on Audi and Volkswagen brands. The topic is particularly interesting because it opens a possibility to create innovative interior designs which is different from the traditional driving interiors. It also creates an opportunity to come up with a new category of design for people who cannot drive as well.

Audi 4senses

Fabrizio Buonomo | Italy
Giuseppe Romano | Italy
Pasquale Smimmo | Italy

4senses is an autonomous concept car designed for a particular category of users: the blind and visually impaired people. Each design solution is created to ensure a comfortable and safe driving: sensorial experiences involving four senses attend the passenger through the city and its most emblematic places.

The interior design and the exterior design are characterized by a central symmetry: in this way it is enhanced bidirectional movement of the vehicle, accepting passengers safely.

Audi Flò

Daniel Ferrari | Italy
Salvador Reyes Guardado | Mexico
Ramprasadh Selvarajah | India

Inspired by the bonefire, the Audi Flò represents a new idea of transportation. The elliptical shape stimulates the people to interact with others and rediscover the pleasure of conviviality. The use of shape memory materials allows the transformation of seats to create the suitable atmosphere for travelling: a car for four or a lounge for two with a small footprint.

Blurring the lines between automotive and product design, the body wrapped around the cabin creates a unique automobile. Eliminating the conventional nation of the front and rear, Audi Flò is designed to be bidirectional.

AudiRED

Lorenzo Marelli | Italy
Gustavo Bernardi Peiter | Brazil

A model arrives on the red carpet, people turn to look, photographers crowd for a photo: everything must be exclusive and scenographic. This is the key point of the AudiRed design, a car who reveals the intention to impress the spectator and leaves the question of how can you get in.

The unusual proportions, especially the height from the ground, are born after numerous explorations of how we can design a car who allows the access to the car while standing. The idea is to bring the red carpet inside the car, making the model the main subject which AudiRed is the scenery.
