Global Grad Show 2019

November 12th – 16th
the Master in Transportation and Automobile Design of Politecnico di Milano
on show at Global Grad Show in Dubai

For the second consecutive year the Master in Transportation & Automobile Design (TAD) is taking part in the Global Grad Show in Dubai, an event that gathers the most innovative projects from design schools around the world.

The AUDI IN project, designed by a team of 4 students of the Master TAD – Edoardo Capi, Seyed Ruhollah Kashfi, Turgut Alkim Tutumlu, Daniel Cosmas Wamono Busima – will be showcased from November 12th to November 16th together with many other international projects. This is a very important chance for comparison and discussion that confirms the excellence of this training course.

The projects for Global Grad Show are selected based on how they respond to a range of criteria, including how they respond to the four tenets of the exhibition; Innovation, Impact, Equality and Exchange. The students will be in Dubai throughout the week and will bring prototypes, films and original research material for visitors to engage and interact with.

Global Grad Show is a coming together of the brightest young minds in the design industry, showcasing projects from over 100 schools this year. The curatorial approach of this year aims to show the connections between different spheres of human existence; as visitors walk through the exhibition, they will experience projects related to the human first, moving on to the home and community and finally the city, and planet. Our hope is that it will inspire others to think critically about how they live, while inspiring all of us to act consciously.

AUDI IN focuses on users with limited mobility, and aims to make the every-day life easier for those people who are dealing with physical limitations. It’s a very ambitious project that fully meets the challenge set by the subject of the 9th edition on the Master TAD: “4 DISTANCES: new e-form languages for future distances“. During the 15 months of the course, the students were asked to design new proposals for the Audi brand, with a strong stress on such important issues as electric vehicles and autonomous drive. They challenged themselves with innovative and avant-garde forms, in order to perfectly fit the specific stylistic code and shape language of the House of the four rings. By taking the necessary measures to include the excluded, claiming their legitimate status as first class citizens, AUDI IN guarantees easy access but above all independence of mobility.

From the very beginning the Master in Transportation and Automobile Design can count on a strong partnership with some of the biggest car manufacturers in the world. It aims to train designers who are able to develop their creativity throughout the entire design process typical of style centers: the definition of external shapes as well as the development of the interior space; the study and choice of materials and colors; the 3D modeling both digital and physical, with clay.

The training course, directed by Fausto Brevi – Professor at the School of Design of Politecnico di Milano – is a fixed number course and a maximum of 20 Italian and foreign students are admitted every year. It is a First Level Specializing Post-Graduated Course aimed to people with a first level or second level degree in Industrial Design, Engineering and Architecture.

Applications for the incoming edition, starting on March 2020, are now open.
